That grapefruits are a cross breed between the orange and the pomelo?

I always thought grapefruits and oranges were like brother and sister in the family of citrus.
But today I found out that the orange is actually a PARENT to the grapefruit! And that the pomelo is the other parent? I always thought of the pomelo as the distant aunt who dropped in now and again. My citrus family hierarchy is all shook up.
